Auto review by Bracks

Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, announced a comprehensive review of Australia's automotive industry.

Mr Bracks, Premier of Victoria until 2007 will conduct the review following the decision by Mitsubishi to stop local manufacture. 

"The future of the industry is dependent on attracting investment, building up skills, encouraging research and development and ensuring that government programs are effective and efficient.

The review will consult with stakeholders and will be calling for public submissions, with an interim report due by March 31, 2008 and final report by the end of July 2008.
